HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

So the holidays went by WAY too fast for me. Going back to the east gets harder each time. It was great to see Gordon's clan (however brief) and, as always, wishing I could be with everyone at once. I love this family. I was able to meet my newest grandchild, Elliott John. He's MUCH cuter than his pictures and such a sweet baby. He is named after the singer Elliott Smith and his two grandfathers (both Jon/John). Funny story - Elliott was given his 'name & blessing' at home with about 50+ people present. Jacob was very nervous and when he began the blessing the name he gave was "Elliott John Smith (pause - whisper by dad John 'Ashley') Ashley". Needless to say his sisters, wife and friends couldn't stop snickering. But all and all it was a very sweet blessing. Other exciting Christmas news was that Chelsea and Brad are PREGNANT! Emma will become a big sister some time in July. John bought me a web cam for Christmas so we are hoping to connect to all the kids. Could this be what's next for the Risser Clan???
Here's to a exciting and adventurous NEW YEAR!

Merry Christmas to All...

Hoping to stimulate some posts on family blogs from other weary eyed Santa's helpers, I'm going to post myself with more to come later when I have a bit more time.  Two are from our Christmas Eve celebration at Jeff and Michele.  As usual, it was a fun evening full of love and Christmas spirit.  The third is from April and Don's celebration.  I'll let them (ahem.... Aimee) tell you about it in more detail on their blog but the Santa is Gordon and I think you all know the festive little elf.

A California Christmas

This was the sight at Jeff and Michelle's house today- just another sunny day in paradise... NOT!  A California White Christmas.

Will the real brunette...

...please stand up?  Toni?  Apparently April and I have decided to join the brunette ranks.  As April says, "Can't afford a facelift".  Here's my new look.  April needs to post her own update.  Aimee?  Can you help?   When you don't have kids, the biggest news you can give regards haircolor.  This is what I've been reduced to... help me.

You Better Not Cry... You Better Not Pout...

The Chicago Tribune featured photos of children scared or crying while sitting on Santa's lap. Here's some of my favorite.

Return of the Navbar

For the life of me I could not figure out how the Navbar (the Blogger bar on the top of the blog) was hidden because I could not find the code anywhere. Oh well, I think this Christmas theme is a cute one and I was able to return the Navbar to the top so it's easier to create a new post. Sorry for the time it took to get it fixed.
