Perseid Meteor Showers and Musings

Sadly, I don't have any pictures to go along with this entry but wanted to document it regardless. Last Sunday evening Becky, John, Mom and I went up to Jeff and Michele's to watch the Perseid Meteor Showers. It was such a wonderful, fun and relaxing evening.
Since we got up there before the sun went down, we had time to visit and eat peach pie made by Miss Madison. Delicious! That and sing and dance to the songs from Momma Mia (thanks Michele and Logan). When the sun went down we went out to the front yard and relaxed on blankets, chairs, hammock and beach chairs. We waited for awhile and for a bit I thought we'd lose the interest of the kids. Then at the perfect moment a brilliant yellow/orange comet flew across the sky with a blazing tail. We all gave a collective gasp!!! Over the next 90 minutes we saw perhaps 6-9 lovely comets of varying color and intensity and a number of falling stars.
Mostly it was a very fun evening together. In many ways it reminded me of when we were little and would lie on the grass on a summer evening looking at the sky. I can clearly remember different occasions (both in Burbank and Canyon Country) when we discussed the possibility of space aliens, the man on the moon and if we really would die if we saw our exact double. You gotta' love those conversations!
Jason's wedding is this Saturday, so I'll be sure to get some pictures. Stay tuned...

It sounds like it was a lot of fun. I wish I could have been there to see it. I knew Jason was getting married this month but I didn't realize it was so soon. I lose track of time so fast.
