The Rest of the Day Was a Little More Sane

So the rest of the day can't really top the top of City Hall but here it is anyhow. I have a love of architecture and old buildings. You just want the walls to talk. We decided to visit some of the old hotels downtown and checked out their ballrooms. Yes, they're tired looking, it's true but they still have some lovely architectural detail and elegance. Since Brad speaks spanish he talked to the staff who showed us where some of the rooms we might be interested in were. These are some shots from the Alexandria Hotel, built in 1906 by John Parkinson, the same architect that designed Union Station, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and City Hall (see the theme?). In "the day" many stars would hang out here (Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Bette Davis).
These are the stained glass pieces in the ceiling. There are a few broken spots but like I said, still lovely.

These are the pictures of the ballrooms. Still with party clothes on but just a little worn looking. I only had my pathetic iPhone camera since the original plan of the day did not include a walking tour. I think you still get the feel however.
