THE BIG 60!!!

The reigning patriarch of the Risser Clan is turning the big 60! How can that be? It was just yesterday that Toni & I (Becky) were pestering Keithie to play house with us and be the daddy. Digging the underground 'cave' at the side of the house. Burning plastic army men and model airplanes (and a barbie doll or two). Hide and Seek in the dark at home (usually when mom and dad were gone). Alligator lizards. Capture the Flag. Skate boarding with homemade sails to pull us down the street. Camping. Saving me from falling in the river. Scarying my cat with his bugle - while I was carrying him (the cat that is). Racing horses at King's Ranch. You were the best big brother a kid could ever ask for. The fact that you always brought your friends (who were sooooo cute) to the house to lift weights for us girls (maybe just me) to ooh and aah over. Ah yes! (Of course they were always interested in Toni - grrr). But I digress... (Youngster - you shall pass this way all too soon.) Gordon - thanks for the memories too many to mention in a blog. I know I speak for my all siblings when I say how much we love you and are so proud to call you Big Bro. Happy Birthday Big Guy!

Happy Birthday Uncle Gordon

Ah dang it! Becky does all the good posts!
Let me add using his boy scout neckerchief as a tourniquet on my leg when I fell into the rose bushes at church in Burbank and sustained deep cuts on my thigh/sides that were bleeding. Saved me from bleeding out ;0) Still have the scars to remind me. Driving crazy in the triumph (I thought it was cool but I was a bit scared), oh and me letting you take the blame for breaking the window on the triumph when it was me... very appropriate little sister behaviour. Making fun of you for kissing girls and trying to put curlers in our hair when you had to babysit us girls on a Saturday night. You were trying to help us get ready for Sunday. What a great big brother. Love you much.

GEEZ, I DON'T REMEMBER PRACTICALLY ANYTHING YOU TWO DESCRIBED, BUT THEN, THEY DO SAY THAT THE MIND IS THE FIRST THING TO GO, OR IS IT THE MEMORY? EITHER WAY - why am I yelling? - I appreciate the thoughts - all of you.

Also - riding down Steinway and up the driveway on your bike bringing me my new kitten. The kitty clung to hand for dear life leaving his marks on your hand. You said I should name him 'Cactus'. And so I did! Love you.

I didn't know that's how Cactus got his name.

This is a wonderful post! I want to copy and publish it. I know nothing of my parents youth. Sounds like a wonderful childhood.
