We want to wish GK and Susanna a very happy 2nd anniversary.
Love ya lots,
Mom and Dad
How ironic! I have been trying to get myself motivated to write up a post about ooVoo, the IM client with video chant support up to three people at a time, six with a subscription. But now the work has been done for me with CNET.com doing a write up on ooVoo for today's featured freeware.
CNET does have one complaint about the program but I would like to try it out with someone (any volunteers?) in the family before we all start downloading it, especially someone with a Mac since they're in the final testing phase for Macintosh.
ooVoo is an iChat-like video conferencing and chat tool for Windows, loaded with useful, powerful tools that make it a viable alternative for small work groups using conference calls and screen-sharing applications. A recording feature lets users tape video chats with other participants. Since the video and audio are being recorded to the hard drive, the only time limit is how much free space the computer's hard drive has. In testing, a nearly 15-minute, four-way video conversation only took up 95MB, which ooVoo can convert into a workable FLV file.
A conference calling tool gives host and participants a phone number to call. Other ooVoo users who call this conference line get plugged right into the audio that's a part of the video chat, and just like the video recordings, this audio gets archived, too. Call-in lines support up to six people, meaning users can have up to a dozen participants--including those on the video side. Note that this service isn't free. An optional companion for ooVoo's video player can be used for screen sharing or file sharing, and fun facial overlay tool that applies digital masks either to users faces or to backgrounds.
One of the best features is support for high-quality video streams, but two qualms users have had with the service are the compressed-sounding audio quality and datastream delays. More than annoying, one or more seconds of lag can force a heated debate to grinding halt. Still, ooVoo makes for a strong alternative to other VoIP and conferencing software.

I updated the template with a free template but it looks like the place hosting the pictures decided to cut everyone off. I'll fix it tonight as well as the navbar to make it simple for Syd and my Dad to log in.
**Update**
I've fixed the majority of the background images that disappeared suddenly. Usually, when a website puts up a free template there should not be any issue with the site hosting the back ground images, lucky for me the pictures were provided with the template download just in case.
After I fixed the blog, I went to the site I downloaded it from and clicked on the demo to compare images, to make sure I did it correctly, and they were all missing too. My best guess is that the site hosting the pictures blocked them from being hosted due to excessive bandwidth usage.

So I'm sitting in the LA Temple at the Baptismal Recommend Desk where all the people come in to do baptisms for the dead, and there's a brother about my age sitting in the lobby area near me waiting for some of his group to come out. We're just making small talk when he says my name looks familiar and asks if I ever lived in Fullerton. I tell him my parents did when I was born and he says, "Your dad blessed me when I was a baby". Turns out his dad had been inactive and was just starting to come to church again when he was born, and his father asked dad to bless him since he couldn't yet.
On top of that, it turns out he lives in Frazier Park just a short way from Carline's family and was at Eddie and Carline's wedding reception. Carline, his last name is Evens.
This is the third time since I started working at the Temple last November that a total stranger to me has recognized my name and had some story to tell me about how dad had an impact for good on their lives.

Wow, I'm getting votes faster than I have expected. I'm going to keep the poll up for four more days to give everyone a chance at voting but here's the results so far.
I might as well tell you the program I'm playing around with. I ran across ooVoo the other day and it touts video conferencing with up to three other people (as part of the free edition, six for the pay version) and it should be able to work on both Window and Mac; although Mac is still in the Beta testing phase. If you feel like checking it out, here's a link to ooVoo.
**Update** Oh yea, did I mention that poll everywhere has a text message voting function? Pretty neat, huh?

Just testing some software (yea, yea, I know I have no life) and I was curious if this one program would hold any interest in anyone.
